Yard waste must be removed from plastic bags
HAYS — With gardening season in full swing, the City of Hays is urging residents to properly utilize its free compost and yard waste site on General Custer Road by emptying all organic debris from plastic bags before dumping. Solid Waste Superintendent Joe Billinger noted that tree limbs, dirt and household trash are strictly prohibited to prevent contamination, though residents who prefer curbside pickup can purchase a sheet of five collection tags for $5.25 at the city clerk's office.
