City overhauls Memorial Park pond with new fountain and lighting
City crews team up with local business to protect aquatic life during sludge removal
MCPHERSON — Visitors to Memorial Park will soon enjoy a revitalized pond featuring a new fountain and enhanced lighting after city crews began draining old water and removing sludge Wednesday.
To protect the pond's aquatic life during the extensive cleanup, local business Culver Fish Farm safely removed and temporarily stored the fish, while the McPherson Wastewater Department assisted in hauling away the dredged remains.
Once the habitat is fully restored and the water is deemed safe, the fish will be returned to the newly refreshed park feature.
