MCPHERSON — The McPherson City Commission approved a $66,310 change order to complete paving on the 800 block of Myers Street, ensuring the crucial school bus route will be ready before classes resume in two weeks. Kansas Paving, already mobilized for work on Maxwell Street, will handle the project at reduced cost due to savings on mobilization and traffic control expenses.

City officials announced the 800 block has already been completed and reopened to traffic, two weeks ahead of the school year start date. The accelerated timeline was made possible through process adjustments and use of available stockpiled materials. The remaining two blocks of the Myers Street reconstruction project, from Anna to Hulse streets, will continue on the original schedule and remain unpaved until the 2026 paving schedule, though they will be opened to traffic once asphalt millings are placed.
