City commissioners to attend Tuesday solid waste meeting
No official votes planned for public utility gathering
MCPHERSON, Kan. — Local residents can expect to see their city leaders at Tuesday's annual McPherson Area Solid Waste Utility meeting, though the officials will not be voting or making any formal decisions during the 5:30 p.m. event. The city issued a transparency notice for the gathering at the McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin St., because the expected attendance of multiple members of the three-person commission — Mayor James S. Loving, Public Lands Commissioner Gary Mehl and Public Works Commissioner Larry E. Wiens, all nonpartisans — legally constitutes a public meeting. The utility oversees the region's trash and recycling operations, but the commissioners are attending the session strictly to gather information rather than conduct municipal business.
