HUTCHINSON — The city is taking its first steps toward establishing permanent zoning regulations for large-scale data centers as the tech industry's physical footprint continues to expand.
The Hutchinson Planning Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Council Chambers to discuss development of the new regulations, according to the commission's agenda. Listed as item ZON-26-0004, the kickoff discussion will not include a public hearing, but officials will use the session to outline the purpose and scope of the upcoming regulatory process.
Commissioners plan to identify key issues to be evaluated before drafting the rules. The board will also establish an anticipated timeline for the process and determine future opportunities for public and stakeholder input as the draft regulations take shape.
