Chiefs will move to Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas City Chiefs will announce their relocation to Kansas today after state lawmakers unanimously approved a stadium deal during a closed-door meeting Monday at the Kansas Capitol, according to unnamed sources familiar with the matter. Eight members of the Kansas Legislative Coordinating Council convened at 1 p.m. and voted within an hour to approve the Chiefs' proposal, though they provided no details about the public subsidy amount or stadium location before adjourning. The Chiefs, who have played at Missouri's Arrowhead Stadium since 1972 and built a recent championship dynasty there, face a lease expiration after the 2030 season that prompted the potential cross-state move.
