Central Christian graduate earns National Merit Scholarship

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Central Christian School graduate has been named a National Merit Finalist and scholarship recipient, placing him among the nation's top academic achievers.

Nathan Reed, who graduated from Central Christian School in 2025, was selected as one of 2,500 students nationwide to receive the prestigious recognition from more than 15,000 finalists across the country.

Reed earned a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation based on his academic performance, application materials and recommendations.

The accomplished student maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout high school and scored 35 on the ACT college entrance exam. Reed also demonstrated leadership abilities as captain of Central Christian's 2024 state champion Scholars Bowl team and contributed to the school's 2025 Class 1A boys golf state championship team.

"Way to go, Nathan! Your hard work, leadership, and academic excellence are an inspiration to us all," Central Christian School said in a statement. "We will be praying for you as you begin this next chapter."

Reed plans to attend the University of Tulsa this fall on a full-ride scholarship to continue his academic career.

The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955, recognizes academically talented high school students based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Central Christian School is a private institution serving students in the Hutchinson area. The school emphasizes both academic excellence and character development in its educational approach.
