Canton-Galva Defeats ECS Eagles 43-33
Eagles fall despite strong effort
Canton-Galva pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat the ECS Eagles 43-33 on Thursday night. The Eagles trailed 11-8 after the first quarter and 19-18 at halftime before Canton-Galva extended their lead to 33-27 after three quarters and closed out the victory in the final period.
Joy Pyle led the Eagles with 12 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Haven Bower added 6 points and 6 rebounds in one of her best performances of the season, making strong moves to the basket. Grace Prescott and Haven Bower each contributed 6 points, while Abigail Stone scored 5 points by aggressively attacking the basket and converting 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Amelia Moody chipped in 3 points and Kami Noggle added 1 point.
The Eagles struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 1-of-9 three-point attempts, but showed strong defensive play through the first three quarters by limiting Canton-Galva's open looks. Rebounding proved to be a challenge as the Eagles gave up several second-chance opportunities.
ECS will look to bounce back when they host Peabody-Burns on Tuesday at Central Christian College.
