Bullpups Volleyball Season Ends at State Tournament

McPHERSON — The McPherson volleyball team concluded a successful season at the state tournament, finishing with an overall record of 35-7 after going 1-2 in state competition.

The Bullpups opened tournament play with a straight-set loss to Topeka Hayden, falling 16-25, 19-25. McPherson bounced back in their second match against Buhler, grinding out a three-set victory 25-22, 17-25, 25-19 to keep their tournament hopes alive. The season came to an end with a hard-fought three-set loss to Clay Center, 16-25, 25-18, 17-25.

Ava Romero led the offensive attack throughout the tournament with 33 kills, while also contributing 27 digs and two aces. Brooke Doile added 31 kills and led the team defensively with 34 digs and three blocks. Carmin Pavlovich provided balanced play with 21 kills and 25 digs.

Setter Rylie Whitfield orchestrated the offense with 88 assists over the three matches and added a block. Adelyn Barrow matched Romero with two aces, while Elley Paulsen and Pavlovich each recorded one ace.
