Bullpups Softball Sweeps Augusta in Dominating Double Header
Pavlovich shuts out Orioles in Game 2 as McPherson outscores Augusta 34-10 on the day
The Bullpups offense exploded in Game 1, racking up 26 runs on 22 hits against the Orioles. After spotting Augusta a run in the first inning, McPherson erupted for three runs in the second and never looked back, adding runs in every inning including a seven-spot in the seventh to close out the blowout.
R. Whitfield was the offensive standout, going 5-for-6 with five runs scored and five RBIs, while P. Bauer added four hits and three runs in five at-bats. A. Gross delivered the biggest blow of the game, launching a home run to go along with three hits and five RBIs. E. Buchman chipped in with two doubles, and B. Doile contributed three hits including a double. The Bullpups drew seven walks and capitalized on seven Augusta errors in the field.
In the circle, A. Schroeder earned the win, pitching 4.1 innings before C. Pavlovich came on in relief and retired batters with ease, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
If Game 1 showcased the Bullpups' offense, Game 2 was all about pitching. C. Pavlovich delivered a masterful complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits over seven innings while striking out 12 batters and walking only one in an efficient 116-pitch performance.
McPherson struck early, plating four runs in the first inning and adding two more each in the fifth and sixth. A. Gross again led the offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double, while B. Doile added two hits and an RBI. The Bullpups drew nine walks on the day, keeping constant pressure on Augusta's pitching staff.
