Bullpups Post Strong Individual Performances at Buhler

The McPherson High School boys swim team competed at Buhler Tuesday, finishing sixth out of seven teams in the overall standings but showcasing several standout performances throughout the meet.

The 200 Medley Relay team of Ben Bocox, Manny Morales, Beckett Schuckman and Cooper Bohme earned a third-place finish with a time of 2:01.61. Schuckman, Bohme and Bocox later teamed up with Kurt Mendez to take third in the 400 Freestyle Relay, posting a season-best time of 3:54.64. Mendez and Morales joined Balt Gaspar and Daniel Bowen for an eighth-place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 2:00.09.

Bohme led the Bullpups in individual events, claiming second place in the 500 Freestyle and fourth in the 200 Freestyle with a season-best time of 2:02.17. Schuckman also reached the podium with a hard-fought third-place finish in the 100 Butterfly and added a sixth-place showing in the 50 Freestyle.

Head coach Matt Cotton noted that a couple of disqualifications proved costly in the team standings, but emphasized the results were more a reflection of squad size than effort. All team members contributed points, and the Bullpups managed to score in every event.

McPherson faces a quick turnaround, traveling to Campus on Thursday, Jan. 29.
