Bullpups Offense Explodes in 46-27 Road Victory at Winfield

WINFIELD – The McPherson High School football team put on an offensive clinic Friday night, rolling to a 46-27 road victory over Winfield behind a spectacular performance from Ashton Malm and quarterback Carter Bengtson. The Bullpups amassed 451 yards of total offense, including 293 yards through the air and 158 on the ground, to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Malm was the star of the show, hauling in 8 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns while adding a spectacular 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that electrified the McPherson sideline. Bengtson was equally impressive under center, completing passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown of his own. The ground game was equally effective, with Dane Becker carrying the load with 114 yards on 14 attempts, while Brody Milleson provided punch near the goal line with two rushing touchdowns on 43 yards and eight carries. The balanced offensive attack proved too much for Winfield to handle as the Bullpups controlled the game from start to finish, setting up a strong 3-1 record heading into the heart of their schedule.
