Bullpups Finish Seventh at McPherson Invitational Tournament
Pyle scores 25, McPherson goes perfect from free throw line in 65-51 win over Free State
The McPherson Bullpups closed out the 62nd Annual McPherson Invitational Tournament with a 65-51 victory over Lawrence Free State on Wednesday afternoon, claiming seventh place in the eight-team field.
McPherson trailed by as many as seven points in the second quarter before rallying to take a 33-29 halftime lead. The Bullpups pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Firebirds 32-22 over the final two periods and building a lead as large as 19 points.
Jett Pyle led all scorers with 25 points, hitting 6-of-13 from the field and a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line while adding 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Eli Reasoner added 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting with 6 rebounds. Cole Cooper contributed 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, while Dane Becker chipped in 6 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.
The Bullpups were flawless from the charity stripe, converting all free throw attempts on the afternoon.
