Bullpups Edge Campus in Season Opener

The McPherson Bullpup boys basketball team opened their 2025-26 season with a thrilling 66-64 road victory over Haysville Campus, launching a demanding three-game stretch in as many days. Senior guard Jett Pyle led all scorers with 29 points in the back-and-forth contest, showcasing the offensive firepower that will be crucial for the back-to-back defending state champions as they navigate early-season challenges.

Junior Ashton Malm contributed 15 points in the winning effort, while freshman Eli Reasoner made an impressive varsity debut and provided the game's most dramatic moment. With just four seconds remaining, Reasoner caught an alley-oop pass from Pyle and converted the go-ahead basket to put McPherson ahead 66-64, securing the season-opening victory. The Bullpups now face a quick turnaround with games at Salina South on consecutive days, facing the Cougars on Friday before taking on Liberal on Saturday at the same venue. The grueling schedule will test McPherson's depth and conditioning as head coach Kurt Kinnamon's squad looks to defend their crown.
