Bullpups Baseball Rolls to 4-0 Week

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson varsity boys baseball team completed a perfect 4-0 week, routing Winfield 16-1 in both games of Monday's home doubleheader before traveling to Chanute on Friday and sweeping the Blue Comets 13-1 and 9-1. Cade Strathman homered in both Winfield games and combined for five RBIs, while the Bullpups' pitching staff held opponents to a combined four runs across the four contests — led by Cru Buchman's eight-strikeout complete game against the Vikings, Cowen Huggard's nine-strikeout five-inning gem at Chanute, and Colt Chapman's six strikeouts over four scoreless innings in his varsity mound debut.

"For us to get to where we want, we really believe we have to be excellent on the mound and defensively," head coach Heath Gertsner said. "This week, we performed very well in both categories. Offensively, we need to be more consistent, but I believe we can get there."
