Bullpup Girls Roll, Boys Fall in Heartbreaker at Augusta
McPherson splits on the road as regular season nears its end
The McPherson Bullpups made the trip to Augusta on Friday night with mixed results, as the girls cruised to a dominant victory while the boys came up just short in a thriller.
Girls – McPherson 67, Augusta 35
The Bullpup girls had no trouble in Augusta, rolling to a convincing 67-35 victory to improve their record to 11-10 on the season. McPherson controlled the game from start to finish, winning by a commanding 32-point margin and heading into the final stretch of the regular season with momentum on their side.
Boys – Augusta 61, McPherson 59
It was a different story for the Bullpup boys, who dropped a heartbreaker 61-59 in a hard-fought battle that came down to the wire. McPherson and Augusta went back and forth down the stretch in a game that could have gone either way, but the Orioles edged out the two-point win, sending the Bullpups home at 12-9 on the season with two regular season games remaining.
Both teams will be back in action Tuesday, February 24th at home as they welcome Mulvane to town. The girls will tip off at 6:00 p.m. with the boys to follow.
