WINFIELD, Kan. — The McPherson varsity boys track and field team captured the AVCTL D3 League Championship on Thursday, May 14, while the varsity girls squad finished as league runner-up, combining for 19 personal records on a hot, windy day.

The boys crowned five individual and relay champions: Kinnick Anderson in the triple jump, Caden Wenderott in both the discus and shot put, and relay squads of Jayren Stutzman, Brody Hoffman, Kinnick Anderson and Ashton Malm in the 4x100m, Dane Becker, Tripp Pelzel, Daniel Bowen and Kayden Friesen in the 4x400m, and K. Friesen, Bowen, Nathan Friesen and Pelzel in the 4x800m.

The girls claimed four league titles, with Andi Buschbom winning the long jump, Cayla Weimer taking the triple jump, Karsen Burris capturing the javelin, and the 4x400m relay team of Wyssmann, Kamryn Prescott, Buschbom and Piper Solofra finishing first, with both teams turning their sights toward next week's regional meet in Buhler.
