Bullpup Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Augusta
Huggard dominates with nine strikeouts as McPherson takes Game 1 before dropping nightcap.
AUGUSTA, Kan. — McPherson split a varsity doubleheader at Augusta on Thursday, taking the opener 9-0 behind a dominant performance from pitcher Huggard before falling 13-7 in the nightcap. Huggard earned his first win of the season, striking out nine batters over five innings while allowing just one walk in the shutout. The Bullpups struggled defensively and couldn't come up with timely hitting in Game 2 as Augusta's bats came alive. McPherson hosts Winfield on Monday.
