Bullpup A Team Extends Perfect Record to 8-0 with Four Straight Wins
Elles Pavlovich leads McPherson to victories over Haysville, Haysville West, Wellington, and Circle
The McPherson Middle School A team girls basketball squad remained undefeated with four dominant victories, improving to 8-0 under head coach Matt Sandbo. The Bullpups opened the week with a doubleheader sweep on November 15, defeating Haysville 58-12 and Haysville West 58-15, before traveling to Wellington on November 17 for a 41-28 victory and concluding with a 39-15 win at Circle on November 20.
Elles Pavlovich led the offensive charge throughout the four-game stretch, scoring 66 total points while contributing numerous assists, steals, and rebounds. The Bullpups received strong support from their supporting cast throughout the week. Kinsley Postier dominated the boards with consistent performances, recording seven rebounds in each game against Haysville and Haysville West, followed by nine rebounds against Wellington and four against Circle, while also contributing 24 total points including a nine-point effort against Wellington.
Mylee Cooke provided steady scoring with 29 points across the four games, including 11 points against Haysville and 10 against Haysville West. Noelle Schmidt totaled 34 points during the stretch, with double-digit performances against Haysville (10 points) and Haysville West (11 points).
Myiah Crawford-Dingman anchored the defense and rebounding, pulling down 12 rebounds against Haysville while adding 18 total points across the four contests. Abby Schieferecke contributed 22 points and showcased her all-around game with five rebounds and four assists against Wellington and four assists against Circle.
The Bullpup B team navigated a demanding schedule, opening with a hard-fought 18-10 victory over Haysville on November 15th, improving their record to 2-3. Anna Kahle led the offensive charge with 8 points, while Lauren Southern added 4 points. Brea LeGron and Kyla Lauw each contributed 3 points in the winning effort.
The momentum shifted in the team's next two outings, as the B squad fell 21-40 to Wellington on November 17th and 23-32 to Circle on November 20th. Despite the setbacks, which moved their record to 2-5, the Bullpups showed resilience and continued development.
In the Circle matchup, Myiah Crawford paced the team with 7 points, while Mackee Cooke added 5. Brea LeGron chipped in 4 points, and Anna Kahle, Lauren Southern, and Anjelina Francisco Pedro each scored baskets in the losing effort.
Both squads return to action December 2 against Prairie Hills-Buhler as the A team looks to extend its perfect season.
