Buhler Schedules Public Hearing on 2026 City Budget

BUHLER, Kan. — The Buhler City Council will hold a public budget hearing Aug. 26 to review the proposed 2026 municipal budget and hear resident input on spending plans and property tax rates.

The hearing is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. at the Buhler City Building, 219 N. Main St. The session will give taxpayers an opportunity to comment on proposed expenditures and the associated mill levy that will fund city operations next year.

Residents can review the complete budget document at City Hall prior to the hearing, according to city officials.

The public hearing is required by Kansas law before municipalities can adopt their annual budgets. City councils must provide residents with an opportunity to review and comment on proposed spending levels and tax rates before final approval.

Buhler, located in Reno County about 15 miles northwest of Hutchinson, has a population of approximately 1,300 residents. The city provides basic municipal services including police protection, street maintenance, water and sewer services, and parks and recreation programs.

Following the public hearing, the City Council is expected to consider adoption of the 2026 budget at a subsequent meeting. Kansas municipalities must adopt their budgets before the end of August to meet state deadlines.
