McPherson's Board of Public Utilities is joining approximately 2,000 community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities across the nation in celebrating Public Power Week from October 5-11.

To mark the occasion, BPU is hosting a Public Power Week Celebration this Thursday, October 9, at the KMU Center, 2090 East Ave A. The come-and-go event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The celebration will feature free ballpark-style hot dogs and chips while supplies last, along with live high-voltage demonstrations scheduled every 30 minutes at 5:30, 6:00, 6:30 and 7:00 p.m.

Attendees can also enter to win a $50 bill credit. The winner will be announced following the event, with the credit available only to active residential BPU utility accounts.

The event offers residents an opportunity to learn more about their community-owned utility while enjoying family-friendly activities and demonstrations showcasing the power industry's technology and safety measures.

For more information about Public Power Week or the celebration event, residents can visit BPU's website or contact their offices.
