Border Queen Bunkhouse Celebrates Two Years in Downtown Caldwell

CALDWELL, Kan. — The Border Queen Bunkhouse will celebrate its second anniversary March 1 in downtown Caldwell.

Owners Kelly and Joey Hudson opened the apartment-style short-term rental in 2023 after recognizing a need for additional accommodations in Caldwell. The business was created to host participants in Caldwell's many historic events and activities.

The couple bought a historic building on South Main Street in downtown Caldwell and transformed it into a rental property.

The bunkhouse has accommodated over 1,024 guests in the past two years, according to the owners. Visitors have traveled from across the United States and internationally to stay at the property while attending local events.

Guests have visited for various occasions, including birthdays, weddings, family reunions, graduation parties and other celebrations. Many have attended Caldwell events such as the one-room schoolhouse social, events at The Border Queen Saloon and Gambling Hall, the Chisholm Trail Fest, Summer County Fair and drag races.

The Border Queen Bunkhouse is located in downtown Caldwell on South Main Street. Caldwell is located in south-central Kansas near the Oklahoma border.
