BNSF Railway to close 7 Hutchinson crossings beginning May 5

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — BNSF Railway will begin railroad crossing maintenance work at seven locations across Hutchinson on Tuesday, May 5, affecting drivers throughout the project's duration.

The crossings scheduled for work include Plum, Poplar, Walnut, Washington, Monroe, Van Buren and Whiteside streets. Each crossing will be fully closed while construction is underway.

Detours will be posted at each location, and motorists are asked to follow signage and plan for additional travel time. Specific detour routes for each crossing are available on maps provided by the city.

City officials noted the work is part of ongoing railroad infrastructure maintenance and improvements. The timeline for individual crossings may shift depending on weather and construction conditions.
