Arkansas City to highlight infrastructure projects from 2026 budget

ARKANSAS CITY — The city will share weekly highlights from its 2026 annual budget over the coming weeks, spotlighting key infrastructure investments residents rely on daily.

This week's featured project centers on water system improvements, including critical investments many residents may not see but depend on regularly.

The 2026 budget allocates funding for a new water storage tank and upgrades to the east pressure zone. City officials said these projects will enhance water pressure, strengthen system reliability and provide redundancy to better serve the community.

Additional funding will support water main replacements, well field improvements and other system upgrades aimed at reducing water loss and extending the lifespan of essential equipment. These long-term investments are designed to ensure a safe, dependable water supply for homes, businesses and future growth, according to the city.

Officials plan to highlight different budget projects each week to show how the city is investing in Arkansas City's infrastructure and future development.
