ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — Residents, community leaders and stakeholders gathered Thursday evening to share ideas about the future of the Northwest Community Center during a community conversation hosted by the City of Arkansas City, the Northwest Community Center and Wichita State University's Public Policy and Management Center.

According to a post on the City of Arkansas City's official Facebook page, participants discussed topics including how the building is currently used, what would make the center feel more active and welcoming, what would encourage people to return regularly, where the center can make the biggest impact in the community and opportunities related to funding, staffing and programming.

The city said the feedback gathered during the event will help guide future planning efforts as partners work to strengthen and sustain the community asset.

"Your input matters, and we look forward to continuing the discussion as the future of the Northwest Community Center takes shape," the city said in the post.

No additional details regarding next steps or a timeline for future planning were immediately available.
