Arkansas City Recognizes City Staff, Police Promotions During Public Service Recognition Week

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — The City of Arkansas City marked Public Service Recognition Week by honoring the departments and employees whose work keeps the city running every day, while the Arkansas City Police Department announced four promotions at the May 5 City Commission meeting.

The week served as an opportunity to recognize city employees across multiple departments, including City Hall staff, the Environmental Services Department, the Fire/EMS Department, the Parks and Facilities Department and the Public Services Department.

City Hall staff were recognized for helping residents pay utility bills, answering questions, keeping records organized, supporting employees, managing technology, sharing information, enforcing codes and coordinating city operations.

The Environmental Services Department, which includes Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Meter Reading, was recognized for maintaining water lines and wastewater systems and serving residents across the community.

The Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department was recognized for responding to emergencies, providing medical care, protecting lives and property and stepping into difficult situations around the clock.

The Parks and Facilities Department was recognized for maintaining parks and trails, caring for public buildings and helping keep the community clean and welcoming.

The Public Services Department, made up of Parks and Facilities, Sanitation, and Street and Stormwater, was recognized for keeping Arkansas City clean, safe and moving every day.

At the May 5 City Commission meeting, the Arkansas City Police Department recognized four officers through a promotional process. MPO Dylan Hettenbach, MPO Lucas Lyons and MPO Madison Pickett were each promoted to Patrol Sergeant, and Officer Adam Utt was promoted to Master Police Officer.

"These promotions represent years of late nights, difficult calls, steady leadership, and a commitment to serving Arkansas City with professionalism and care," the city said.
