Arkansas City Public Works Departments Receive Chamber Recognition
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce honored the city's Parks & Recreation and Streets & Sanitation departments with STAR Awards on Jan. 15, recognizing their contributions to maintaining the community's infrastructure and public spaces.
The City of Arkansas City announced the recognition on social media Jan. 16, thanking the chamber for acknowledging the work of municipal employees who keep the city running smoothly.
"These departments keep Arkansas City looking sharp and running smoothly," the city's post stated. "It's good to see them noticed for the work they take pride in."
The chamber presented the awards to crews from both departments during ceremonies that included group photos with staff members. The STAR Awards program recognizes local businesses, organizations and government departments for outstanding service to the Arkansas City community.
The Parks & Recreation Department maintains the city's parks, recreational facilities and public green spaces, while the Streets & Sanitation Department handles road maintenance, snow removal and waste collection services.
In its announcement, the chamber thanked department staff for their daily efforts to keep the town clean and functional.
"Ark City would look a whole lot different without each and every one of these hard workers," the chamber's post said. "Thank you for keeping our town and facilities clean, and for everything else you do!"
