Arkansas City Highlights Sewer System Improvements in Weekly Budget Series
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — Arkansas City will spotlight infrastructure investments in its sewer system as part of a weekly series highlighting projects from the 2026 annual budget.
This week's featured project focuses on improvements aimed at catching problems early and preventing emergencies in the city's wastewater system.
The 2026 budget includes funding for sewer line rehabilitation, lift station upgrades and a citywide program to clean, inspect and map sewer lines using camera technology, according to a city social media post.
City officials said the inspections will provide a clearer understanding of system conditions and help staff focus repairs where they are needed most.
By prioritizing inspection and preventive maintenance, the city can reduce inflow and infiltration, limit costly emergency repairs and plan future improvements more effectively, officials said. The approach is designed to protect public health and neighborhood infrastructure.
The city did not specify the total budget allocation for the sewer system improvements or provide a timeline for completion of the projects.
Residents can view additional information about the project and other budget items in the 2026 budget book available online at arkcity.org.
