Arkansas City Highlights Infrastructure Projects in 2026 Budget

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — The city has spotlighted street and bridge improvements as its project of the week, emphasizing infrastructure maintenance as a key priority in the 2026 budget.

The city announced Tuesday that funding will support street mill and overlay projects, ongoing maintenance including crack sealing and pothole repair, and replacement of the F Street Bridge.

City officials said the projects are guided by a comprehensive street condition assessment that evaluates roadways based on traffic volume and long-term value.

"Keeping streets and bridges safe and reliable remains a major focus in the 2026 budget," the city stated in a social media post.

The city is leveraging state grants and partnerships to extend local funding and deliver additional roadway improvements while maintaining fiscal responsibility, according to the announcement.

The announcement included a photo showing construction work on what appears to be a residential street, with workers and equipment visible alongside temporary barriers and freshly laid concrete.
