Arkansas City Fire/EMS Open House Draws Community Support for New Station Discussion

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department welcomed community members Monday evening for an open house at its current station, giving residents a firsthand look at the facility as the department continues discussions about its future needs.

Attendees had the opportunity to tour the station, speak directly with firefighters and staff, and ask questions about the department's operations and the ongoing conversations surrounding a potential new facility.

"Conversations like these help us share information and keep the community involved in the process," the department said.

A special thank you was extended to David at the Arkansas City Dillons, who arranged for hot dogs, chips and other food items to be donated for the evening.

"Because of that generosity, we were able to create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who came by to talk, ask questions, and learn more about the department," officials said.

For those who were unable to attend, the department said it will continue sharing updates in the coming days and weeks, along with more information about the department's needs and the reasons behind the current discussions.

"Our firefighters spend their days serving the community," the department said. "Moments like this — when the community shows that same support in return — truly mean a lot."
