Arkansas City Fire Department Partners with TFI for Holiday Toy Drive
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Arkansas City Fire and EMS Department will host its second annual "Fill the Ambulance" holiday toy drive Dec. 6 at Ace Hardware to collect new, unwrapped toys for local children in foster care.
The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ace Hardware parking lot at 2013 N. Summit, is a partnership with The Family Initiative, a Kansas-based nonprofit organization supporting children and families in the foster care system.
Organizers are accepting new, unwrapped toys for children ages 0-12, with a particular focus on items including bicycles, tricycles, RC cars, science kits, baby dolls, trucks, cars and splash balls for younger children. The department is also collecting new clothing in sizes 3T to adult large, especially hoodies and sweatpants. Socks are always welcome, organizers said.
The toy drive aims to provide holiday cheer to children in foster care throughout the region. Those interested in donating but unable to attend the Dec. 6 event can contact Melody Paggao at 620-441-4450 for information about alternative donation options.
The Family Initiative works to strengthen families and support children in the foster care system across Kansas.
