Arkansas City Chamber to Host Frontier Days Festival June 5-6

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Frontier Days festival June 5-6 on the 100 block of Summit Street, with a wild west theme and two days of events planned for the community.

The 100 block of Summit Street will be closed to traffic for both days of the festival.

Friday's events begin at noon with a City Hall Time Capsule ceremony. From 5 to 8 p.m., the chamber will host Merchants in Motion June First Fridays, featuring live music, mechanical bull riding, food, line dancing, ceramic ornament painting, a bounce house and wanted posters.

Saturday's festivities run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and include a chuckwagon from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., ceramic ornament painting at Adelphi Cermics, a Wanted Poster and Make It Yours activity, vendors from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a window decorating contest for businesses. Business owners and employees are encouraged to dress up.

Entertainment Saturday includes a performance by Cordellia Clapp at noon, a band performance by Jake Gill from 12:30 to 3 p.m., and a Burford Kan Kan dancers performance at 5 p.m.
