Arkansas City Approves Design Agreement for New Fire/EMS Station
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — City commissioners approved the first step toward constructing a new Fire/EMS station for the Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department at their March 17 meeting.
Commissioners passed a resolution authorizing the city to enter into a Design-Build Agreement with Crossland Construction Company for pre-construction and design services. The contract is capped at $472,500.
The agreement covers planning only and does not authorize construction. Work under the contract will include early designs, cost estimates and an evaluation of options for the project.
City officials emphasized that a final location for the new station has not yet been selected and that the project remains in its early planning phase.
As design work progresses, the project team will review needs, potential sites and overall costs. Upon completion of that work, the project will return to the City Commission for a decision on whether to move forward with construction.
No timeline for a construction decision or station completion was announced.
