ARC Park playground to close for safety surface maintenance

HAYS, Kan. — The ARC Park playground will close Monday through Friday, April 20-24, for routine maintenance of its safety surface, according to the City of Hays Parks Department. Work crews will reseal the playground's rubber fall zone with specialized binding material to prevent flaking and maintain safety standards, said Jeff Boyle, Director of Parks. The application process takes approximately one day, with additional time needed for the surface to dry and cure properly. The playground area must remain clear of foot traffic until barricades are removed to ensure public safety and proper material setting. The playground is expected to reopen Friday, April 24, weather permitting, with Boyle emphasizing that maintaining the quality and safety of the inclusive community space is a top priority for the city.
