Anderson Avenue Construction Enters New Phase with Traffic Switch

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Construction crews will implement a major traffic control switch on Anderson Avenue beginning Tuesday, February 17, as the multi-year infrastructure project transitions to its next phase. Traffic will be redirected onto newly completed concrete pavement on the south side of Anderson Avenue between Connecticut Avenue and Timberlane Drive, with a crossover located just east of Timberlane Drive.

The traffic switch will allow crews to begin Phase 1B construction on the north side of the roadway, which is estimated to take three to four months depending on weather conditions. Motorists should expect light to moderate traffic delays on Anderson Avenue, College Avenue, College Heights Road, and Connecticut Avenue. The city advises drivers to use extreme caution in the work zone or find alternate routes during the transition day for crew safety. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027, with updates available at andersonwaterstorm.com.
