Abilene City Commission greenlights alcohol sales, street closures for 2026 Central Kansas Free Fair
ABILENE, Kan. — The Abilene City Commission approved an ordinance during a special meeting Tuesday authorizing the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in designated areas of the city and the Eisenhower Park Fairgrounds for the 2026 Central Kansas Free Fair. The measure also permits the temporary closure of associated city streets and public rights-of-way and approves a revised map of the authorized event area. The measure passed without discussion, with Mayor Brandon Rein, Vice Mayor Cy Taylor and Commissioner John Kollhoff voting in favor.
