7th Grade Girls Volleyball Bullpups Go 3-1 at Augusta
McPherson's A team rolled to two wins while the B team split against Augusta and Rose Hill.
AUGUSTA, Kan. — The McPherson Middle School seventh-grade girls volleyball teams combined to go 3-1 Tuesday at Augusta, with the A team sweeping both opponents and the B team splitting its matches. The A team defeated Augusta 25-14, 25-11 and topped Rose Hill 25-20, 25-22 to improve to 10-1 on the season. "They easily defeated both teams in two," said Coach Ally Lusk. "We played the net well and serve received well. The girls stayed positive each point. Our team worked well together hustling for each ball." The B team, coached by Lauren Labertew, dropped a tight three-set match to Augusta 25-21, 21-25, 9-15 before rallying past Rose Hill 25-14, 20-25, 15-5 to move to 9-2. Labertew credited her team's resilience in the Rose Hill finale, noting that missed serves proved costly in both losses of the evening. The B team Bullpups will compete in an away tournament Saturday before both squads travel to Wellington on Monday.
