7th Grade Girls Volleyball Bullpups Go 2-0 at Wellington
McPherson's A and B teams each swept Wellington and El Dorado on Tuesday.
WELLINGTON, Kan. — The McPherson Middle School seventh-grade girls volleyball teams each went 2-0 Tuesday, with both the A and B squads sweeping Wellington and El Dorado. The A Team, now 14-1, rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Wellington 20-25, 25-20, 15-3, then dispatched El Dorado 25-13, 25-9; coach Ally Lusk said the Bullpups started slow with communication errors and missed serves before sharpening their focus. The B Team, now 12-4, posted identical 25-14, 25-14 scores against El Dorado after opening with a 25-11, 25-14 victory over Wellington, with coach Lauren Labertew noting the girls "stayed positive" and made key plays after falling behind in a set. The A Team is next scheduled to compete Saturday at the league tournament in El Dorado.
