6th Grade Bullpups Bounce Back with Dominant 32-7 Victory Over Hays
Defense forces early turnover, offense capitalizes in comprehensive road win

HAYS – The McPherson 6th grade football team showed remarkable resilience, bouncing back from their previous loss with a commanding 32-7 victory over Hays that showcased both explosive offense and stingy defense.
The Bullpups set the tone immediately when Hays opened with the ball. On the very first play from scrimmage, McPherson forced a fumble that Aiden Barrow recovered, giving the offense prime field position. Hayden Hicks capitalized with a hard run up the middle for the game's first touchdown.
The offensive fireworks continued on McPherson's next possession when quarterback Isaac Reasoner connected with Landon Dodge on an out route that Dodge took to the house, extending the lead to 14-0. After Hays managed their lone score of the game, Reasoner struck again with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Kacen Kliewer, putting the Bullpups in complete control. Reasoner also showcased his arm strength with a beautiful long pass to Maddox Cullinane.
The defense was equally impressive, limiting Hays to just seven points for the entire game. Hicks led the defensive charge, while Aiden Barrow was flying all over the field making plays. Grady Rierson and Tripp Linden provided stellar safety play, making multiple tackles on much bigger opponents. Tyler Milleson and Maddox Colony excelled at setting the edge, preventing Hays from reaching the sidelines.
McPherson sealed the victory in the second half with two more scores. Dodge returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown, and Reasoner displayed excellent quarterback IQ by reading the defense and keeping the ball on a quarterback keeper for another score.
The offensive line dominated throughout the game, protecting Reasoner all day long, with Braxton Jones leading the way with his relentless effort. Reserve players also contributed significantly, including Colby Ward who made multiple defensive plays, along with Cody Sherwood, Ayden Riley, and Adam Ousdahl helping seal the win.
The Bullpups return home next weekend to host Westside Wichita at 3 PM in McPherson.
