PAGE, Ariz. - A new student-centered coffee shop at Page High School has successfully launched, according to reports at the Page Unified School District governing board meeting Wednesday. Superintendent Bryce Anderson said the shop, which had its soft opening on Oct. 29, is already a “fan favorite” among students. Several board members who had toured the facility praised the effort, calling it a lovely addition that provides an attractive on-campus option for students. The project was a collaboration between the district’s food service, maintenance and high school staff.

PAGE, Ariz. - The district’s recent musical production, an original show featuring student performers, was lauded by several governing board members Wednesday. Board member Desiree Fowler highlighted that the performance was an original script with original music, while board member Mike Mangum called the show “phenomenal.” Both members emphasized the importance of performing arts in building student confidence and expressed hope that the program’s legacy would continue.
District seeks to increase student participation in free meal program
PAGE, Ariz. - The Page Unified School District is working to increase student participation in its free breakfast and lunch program, Superintendent Bryce Anderson reported Wednesday. As part of the Community Eligibility Provision, every student in the district can eat at no cost. Anderson stated that the district’s food service director is developing a survey to gather student feedback on breakfast preferences in an effort to boost morning meal participation.

PAGE, Ariz. - The Page Early Childhood Learning Center has completed its move into new classrooms, a project that now allows the district to expand to an eighth preschool class when needed. Superintendent Bryce Anderson announced the successful transition at Wednesday's meeting, thanking the preschool staff for their extensive work moving over a long weekend to ensure the new rooms were ready for students. Board members praised the new facilities, noting they were a significant improvement over the previous classrooms.
Board member reports on local food and firewood aid programs
PAGE, Ariz. - Efforts to support local families through food and heating assistance were highlighted during a governing board member report Wednesday. Board member Bunny Cochran discussed working with the LeChee Chapter and other Navajo Nation chapters to address food insecurity through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Cochran also reported on an ongoing initiative to distribute pre-cut firewood from the Flagstaff area to families in need, including those living within the city of Page, to prepare for the winter.
