MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Unified School District 418 (USD 418) Board of Education will hold a public hearing on its proposed 2026-27 budget at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at 514 N. Main St. The proposed budget carries an estimated levy of 56.815 mills, up 4.510 from last year, raising total district taxes to $16.2 million from $14.3 million. Nearly all of the increase is in the Bond and Interest fund, which covers payments on the $89.6 million in bonds voters approved March 3 for a new McPherson High School academic wing and the conversion of Eisenhower Elementary into a middle school.

The hearing was originally set for Sept. 14; the district moved it and its other meetings to Sept. 21, with the revenue neutral rate hearing at 5:30 p.m. and the regular board meeting at 6 p.m. Taxpayers may raise objections to the proposed spending and tax levy at the hearings.
