Hutchinson voters weighing USD 308's proposed $36 million, 12-year bond for work on existing schools can question district staff Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the first of three meetings before Election Day. That meeting will be held at HMS 7, 210 East Ave. A.

According to the district, the bond focuses on improving the schools and facilities USD 308 already has and includes no new buildings. Proposed projects include safety and security improvements; heating, ventilation and air conditioning, or HVAC, and roofing work; and food service improvements.

The district's announcement does not say what the bond would cost property owners, how the $36 million would be divided among those projects or on what date voters will decide.

All three meetings start at 6 p.m. and are come-and-go, with district staff available to answer questions. Attendees can view maps and project details for schools throughout the district and share their thoughts on the proposal. Light refreshments will be served.

The remaining two meetings are set for Wednesdays, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28, at HCTEA, 800 E. 15th Circle. More information is available on the bond page of the district's website.
