MCPHERSON, Kan. — Nearly 700 McPherson residents and businesses lost electricity Thursday, Aug. 6, after an underground electric conductor and a transformer failed, according to the McPherson Board of Public Utilities. Utility crews have since restored power to the vast majority of those affected.

As repairs continue, 46 customers remain without power in the 100 blocks of North and South Main between Main Street and Maple. Utility officials said crews are working to repair the damaged infrastructure and expect to fully restore service to the remaining properties by 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.
