RENO COUNTY, Kan. — Darrin Truan secured the at-large seat on the Hutchinson City Council, while Stacy Goss and Greg Fast won their respective district races, according to unofficial results from Tuesday, Nov. 4, general election.

Truan captured 3,132 votes in the at-large race, defeating Carlton "Duke" DeVaul, who received 1,892 votes. Unresolved write-in votes totaled 112.

In the northwest district, Goss earned 1,484 votes compared to Devon Reese's 832 votes, with 19 unresolved write-in votes. Fast won the southwest district with 674 votes over Kaden Winters' 310 votes and 12 unresolved write-in votes.

The USD 308 Board of Education race saw Laura Corey lead with 2,329 votes, followed by Cheryl L. Thompson with 1,953 votes, Lindsey Hatfield with 1,834 votes, Jeff Roberson with 1,747 votes, Gregory Scott Johnson with 1,585 votes and Shontina R. Tipton with 1,076 votes.

A $109.5 million bond issue to build a new Hutchinson middle school failed decisively Tuesday, with voters rejecting the proposal by a nearly 3-to-1 margin. The measure, which would have funded a new facility for sixth, seventh, and eighth grades along with improvements to elementary, early childhood, student services, and sports facilities, garnered just 1,253 "yes" votes compared to 3,683 "no" votes, with all 35 precincts reporting. The 74.6% opposition represented one of the most lopsided defeats for a school bond issue in recent Kansas history.

In Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees races, incumbents swept their districts. Jan Young received 3,283 votes for District 1-4 Position 4, Rodney Calhoun earned 1,291 votes for District 2-2 Position 2, and Todd B. Miller secured 1,551 votes for District 3-6 Position 6\. Each race included unresolved write-in votes.

The results remain unofficial pending certification by election officials.
