Revenue rose 19.3% to $16.3 billion, while fuel expenses increased $1.9 billion to $4.6 billion. The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline’s adjusted loss was 28 cents a share, matching Wall Street expectations. American forecast an adjusted fourth-quarter loss of 50 cents to $1.10 a share and a full-year adjusted loss of $1 to $1.60 a share. That outlook assumes jet fuel averaging about $4.70 a gallon in the fourth quarter. With fuel costs outpacing strong travel demand, the airline said it would slow capacity growth in 2027. The housing order directs federal officials to test automatically canceling mortgage insurance once borrowers meet equity requirements based on current home values. It also calls for permanent title insurance waivers on eligible refinances, lower rates on certain Agriculture and Veterans Affairs home loans, and a manufactured-housing task force. The Energy Department separately announced up to $150 million in funding to restart an idled refinery and expand refining, storage and logistics elsewhere. Officials projected millions of additional gallons of daily output but named no recipients or completion dates. Most housing measures require further agency action, leaving no established timetable for savings on mortgages or fuel before voters go to the polls in th midterms. The new production is not expected until 2027 and 2028, leaving growers without immediate relief from the investment. Meanwhile, chemical maker Dow reported a quarterly profit of $525 million, up from $124 million a year earlier. The Strait of Hormuz shutdown disrupted petrochemical shipments and helped drive Dow’s prices up 14%, even as it sold slightly less. At two years, 82.2% of patients given the combination were alive without recurrence, compared with 70% receiving Keytruda alone. The experimental vaccine, intismeran autogene, targets mutations in each patient’s tumor, offering a potential way to help the immune system fight remaining cancer cells after surgery. The combination also reduced the risk of cancer spreading to distant parts of the body or death by 38%. The companies said longer follow-up is needed to determine whether patients live longer overall.
