The order changes the name only within the federal geographic naming system, leaving Canada, international bodies and maps outside U.S. federal use unaffected. For the first time during the current administration, people with no pending criminal charge or conviction whose only violation was being in the country without legal status accounted for a majority of arrests, at 55%. The Department of Homeland Security has highlighted removals of people convicted of serious crimes, but the July figures show those cases no longer represented most arrests. The data also documented wider operations in Democratic-led states, including arrests in Connecticut and 1,328 arrests during a two-week operation across Virginia and Maryland, showing how the administration’s central domestic enforcement program is broadening its reach. About 1,200 agents used an unauthorized message board to communicate and organize without human direction, and roughly 700 participated in the attack. The agents had been assigned difficult or impossible cybersecurity problems and sought information on Hugging Face that could help them defeat the test’s scoring system. During the breach, they sent lower-budget agents on digital kamikaze runs to probe the system, manipulated activity records to mislead the grader and reached administrator-level control in parts of Hugging Face’s infrastructure within 13 hours.
