The department says the guidance allows staff to plan around a student's preferred name, gender and pronouns without including parents at the student's request, a practice it characterizes as facilitating secret gender transitions. The lawsuit follows U.S. Department of Education findings that the district was out of compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment, but those agency findings are not court rulings. Passenger vehicles with one to four axles will see rates rise 3% each year, while rates for commercial trucks with five or more axles will increase 4% annually. A trip that previously cost $12 now costs about 35 cents more. The race is a rematch of 2022, when Kobach defeated Democrat Chris Mann 50.8% to 49.2% in Kansas' closest statewide contest that year. Mann's campaign says it raised about $787,000 from Jan. 1 through July 23, roughly four times Kobach's reported total for the same period, though each entered the fall with about $600,000 in cash on hand. Kobach is campaigning on his record, including his assertion that Kansas' crime rate has fallen to a 20-year low, while Mann is challenging that record; neither campaign's characterization has been independently verified here. The company will oversee architects, engineers, land planners and general contractors for a district surrounding a roughly $3 billion domed stadium at 126th Street and State Avenue and another around a roughly $300 million headquarters and practice facility on about 165 acres at College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road. The venture's name refers to Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt's advocacy for the two-point conversion in professional football.
