MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson residents walked in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness over the weekend despite a storm, the McPherson Police Department said in a Facebook post Sunday. An event flyer listed the walk for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, starting at Genesis and ending at the Plaza, where speakers, entertainment, childhood cancer information and $5 luminaries were planned, along with pre-walk games in the Genesis parking lot and a prize for the best gold outfit. September is observed nationally as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, marked by a gold ribbon.
