Students at South Breeze Elementary in Newton walked, biked and scooted to class Wednesday as part of National Walk & Roll to School Day.

The morning event, supported by the City of Newton, the Healthy Harvey Coalition and the Harvey County Health Department, featured music, free bike helmets and high-fives from local first responders, including a police officer dressed as Spider-Man.

Officials also used the gathering to collect community feedback for Newton's developing Safe Routes to School plan, encouraging families to complete an online survey about student travel habits.
