SALINA, Kan. — The Salina City Commission is set to consider a $12.66 million bond sale and major municipal landfill upgrades during its regular meeting Monday. Commissioners will vote on authorizing Series 2026-A general obligation internal improvement bonds, which are typically used to finance public infrastructure projects and are backed by the city's taxing authority. The agenda also includes a vote to award a construction contract not to exceed $3,239,888.76 to Newton-based Vogts Construction for a new scale house and scales at the municipal landfill.

In addition to the multimillion-dollar infrastructure votes, Mayor Mike Hoppock and the commission will receive the city's 2024 audit report from accounting firm Forvis Mazars, LLP. Before the regular meeting at the City-County Building, officials will hold a 2 p.m. study session to review 2027 budget requests from outside agencies.
